One of Those Days

Ever have one of those days where you wake up at 5 a.m. and feel like you might not make it to the bathroom before your bladder bursts - only to discover once you get there that evidently your bladder has burst because you are peeing blood? PEEING BLOOD !!!! It's not as much fun as it sounds.

A trip to the doctor, a diagnosis of a severe Urinary Tract Infection (I capitalized that because it is that important), and three prescriptions later I am sitting here at work feeling just awful. Not looking forward to the following ten days when the antibiotics will tear my stomach up AND give me a yeast infection. Plus I will be peeing orange. PEEING ORANGE !!!!

  1. You have my heartfelt sympathies. I detest bladder infections. I hope you feel better soon!

  2. Thanks Cindy ... I am already feeling better, but have to take the antiobiotics for ten days. I am really thinking that it has something to do with the bubble bath that I started using.

  3. I HATE UTIs...
Ask the doctor for a prescription of Diflucan or Trican (fluconazole). It is one pill that you can take orally at the first sign of a yeast infection. It is wonderful. I don't get any antibiotics without also getting this.

  4. Thanks E. I did ask him for a Diflucan ... I am the same way with antiobiotics, but the doc warned me not to take the Diflucan until I was done with the ten days of antibiotics. Oh yeah ... going to be some big fun at our house for the next week. Derek has cancelled the "naked dance party". ;)

  5. Yeah - if you take the Diflucan when you are on the antibiotics you can create resistant yeast-infection bacteria.

I mentioned on the DC that you should ask your pharmacist for these probiotic-type supplements. They are over-the-counter. The pharmacist recommended them to me. I take them while taking antibiotics (and for about a week or so afterwards, too) and I've never had a yeast infection since (and luckily haven't had to use Diflucan again, either!)
